There were 275 reported human trafficking cases in Pennsylvania in 2018, with legal experts estimating the number of Pennsylvania sex trafficking victims to be in the thousands annually.
That figure explodes when looking internationally, with over 40 million victims of trafficking world-wide.
Yet less than 1% of trafficked individuals are ever rescued. And even fewer remain free.
That’s why we once again hosted the Walk For Freedom in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania this year. On October 19 we joined thousands of people in over 50 countries as we walked to bring awareness to human trafficking globally. This event, hosted by A21, battles slavery with every step. So we were proud to help raise about $1,500 for A21’s anti-human trafficking efforts.
We are excited to announce that next year’s Walk For Freedom will take place Saturday, October 17.
The bedrock of this movement rests with raising awareness and equipping people to know the signs of trafficking and how to report it. This includes training local organizations and government agencies, expanding the network of activists, and hosting community events.
The Walk for Freedom accomplishes this goal, as did a local training Greenlight Operation hosted November 2. Through presentations, a panel with our core team, and a great question-and-answer session, we educated attendees about modern day slavery here in Central Pennsylvania and, most importantly, equipped them with the information to combat this issue.
It’s through events like these–backed by countless hours and resources from volunteers and supporters–that we are gaining traction in eradicating human trafficking from our neighborhoods.
If you have ever considered partnering with us financially, we would love for you to join us during a special campaign this month. Greenlight Operation has a remarkable opportunity to partner with dōTERRA’s Healing Hands Foundation. EVERY dollar donated through our specific donation link will be matched up to $15,000! This means that if we are able to raise $15,000 between now and November 29th, HHF will also donate $15,000 for a total of $30,000.
You can donate to our match campaign through the donate page on our website, with all funds raised going toward our Restoration Home Project.
